Why this matters
AI assistants don't "look at" your site the way you do — they read its code. A special code block called structured data hands them your business name, address, phone, hours, and business type in a format they parse perfectly, with zero guessing. Sites with it get mentioned accurately; sites without it get guessed at or skipped.
Who does this depend on your platform
WordPress — do it yourself
- Install Rank Math
Go to Plugins → Add New, search for Rank Math SEO, click Install Now, then Activate.
- Run the setup wizard
Rank Math walks you through setup. When it asks for your business type, pick the closest match (e.g. "Local Business → Restaurant").
- Fill in your business details
Go to Rank Math → Titles & Meta → Local SEO (or Rank Math → General Settings in newer versions) and enter your business name, address, phone number, and opening hours exactly as they appear on your site.
- Save
Rank Math now generates the structured data code on every page automatically. No code to touch.
Yoast also generates basic structured data. For full local-business details (address, hours, phone), Rank Math's Local SEO module goes further — you can run Rank Math instead of Yoast, but don't run both at once.
Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify — hand this to your web person
These platforms don't have a settings page for this — it goes in your site's code. Send your web person this message:
"Hi — I had our website checked for how well AI assistants can read it, and it found we're missing JSON-LD structured data for our business.
Could you add a <script type="application/ld+json"> block to our homepage template with Schema.org LocalBusiness markup (use the most specific subtype, e.g. Restaurant, HairSalon, Plumber)? Please include: name, full street address (streetAddress, addressLocality, addressRegion, postalCode), telephone, openingHours, and url — matching exactly what's on our site and Google Business Profile.
I'll re-run the scan after to confirm it's fixed. Thanks!"
If only some fields are missing
Your report may say your structured data is missing your address or phone specifically. Same fix — whoever added the code block needs to add the missing fields to it. On WordPress, it's the Rank Math Local SEO settings above: fill in every field, don't leave blanks.
After the fix
Run a new CrawlReady scan. The metadata check re-reads your code block fresh each time — once your business facts are in there, the flag clears.
